Конкурс в 2009г. будет разделен на две части:

• первая часть - подготовка эссе с датой окончания подачи заявок 31-го января
• вторая часть будет проведена позднее (подробности будут анонсированы)

На каждом этапе будут определяться до пяти призёров. Приз £1000. Помимо этого, могу быть особо отмечены еще до пяти работ.

Главной темой эссе на Январь 2009 является: "Architectures to enable breakthroughs for mobile converged devices".

В рамках этой темы эссе должны затрагивать одно или несколько из следующих направлений:

1. Software development that takes best advantage of multiple processor cores
2. Allocation of responsibilities between managed code and native code
3. Delivering maximum power from the hardware and the networks to applications
4. Security and privacy concerns in mobile device architectures
5. Taming the complexity of mobile system architecture: is open source the answer?
6. Enabling devices, applications and services that appeal to huge new groups of users
7. The role of system architecture in significantly improving consumer experience

• Kirill Alexandrov, Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University, Russia (FRUCT): Ideas on driving-oriented converged devices for cars, going beyond mobile phones in cars, proposing innovative onboard mobile systems for the automobile;
• Gerald Madlmayr, Johannes Kepler University, Hagenburg, Austria: An excellent analysis of security issues for Near-Field Communications, with recommendations for industry;
• Richard Tee, Tanaka Business School, Imperial College, UK: An insightful business-oriented survey of software architecture issues from a point of view of the governance of mobile platforms.

• Ashwin Bhat K S, National Institute of Technology Karnataka, India: A good survey and analysis of the benefits of Open Source for mobile software;
• Pankaj Nathani, Bhavnagar University, Gujarat, India: An excellent broad survey of architecture issues for mobile devices with insights for device developers;
• Aleksandra Reiss, Petrozavodsk State University, Russia (FRUCT): An innovative review of ideas for medically-oriented converged mobile devices, with specific focus on the needs of developing countries.
